Carlson Elementary School Needs Supplies

As a single mom for 14 years, one of my least favorite times of the year was the beginning of the school year. I would always be in a panic because I wasn't sure I was going to be able to afford school supplies; and I was too proud to seek help from a local agency to get them. So, what did I do? Every year, the night before the first day of school, I would frantically search through my kids messy room to see if there were maybe some supplies from the previous school year that he may have shoved in a closet or under the bed. I think I had a 35% success rate; there was always at least 1 spiral notebook and a few spare colored pencils that I knew would get it through the first couple of weeks.

It's not just a struggle for parents to buy school supplies each year, schools need a little help at times too, and this is where you come in.

Carlson Elementary in Rockford has around 300 to 400 kids but they only have enough supplies for about 30 of them, so they're holding a school supply drive.

If you have any items you can donate, like spiral notebooks, glue and glue sticks, pencils, and back packs, you can drop them off at the school at 4015 Pepper Dr, Rockford.

Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated.
