Rockford Has a Sweet Offer to Become a Homeowner

The City of Rockford is offering to cover your down payment plus give you money for renovating to fill many vacant houses around the city.

Through a federal grant, Rockford has begun the Homebuyer Assistance Program and that's good new for you if you're looking to buy a home. According to mystateline.com, through this program, you can not only have your down payment covered, but get $40,000 toward renovating the home.

A couple Rockford families have already been helped by the program and there are more than 30 more applications available for this assistance.

We will look at your income and make sure you aren't going to be spending more than 30% of your gross monthly income on housing, said Rockford Community Development Specialist Andrea Hinrichs
