Rockford Hospital Janitor Is the ‘Piano Man’

This Rockford hospital janitor does more than just make sure the place stays spotless.

Rolando Maaba, 55, works for the Rockford Health System on Rockton and even though he spends most of his day keeping the hospital clean he does find a little bit of time to entertain patients and their families.

For 15 minutes a day, Maaba gives up his break to play the piano.

Maaba's story has made national news. He tells ABC, "The bottom line is I want to be helping guests who are waiting for their relatives after an emergency or a surgery and they’re worried. When I play, they forget all their worries."

Maaba has also turned his piano playing skills into a side gig.  You can see him on Wednesday nights at Franchesco's.
