When I was a kid, the one thing my stepmom always signed me and my step brother up for each summer was swimming lessons; I loved them...him, not so much.

It typically took some form of bribery to get him there and most often, it ended up being ice cream from the beach concession stand. It worked like a charm.

Whether you have a child you just can't keep out of the water, or you're trying to convince them just to get in the shallow end of the pool, they'll need lessons; and here's the best way to get them there- tell them they'll be a world record holder.

The Rockford Park District, along with nearly 600 locations in 20 countries, is taking part in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson, in an attempt to break last year's Guinness World Record; and it's FREE.

Kids three and over can get a free swimming lesson on June 22nd, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the following locations:

Magic Waters, 12:30-1:00 pm
Harkins Aquatic Center, 2:00-2:30 pm
Alpine Pool, 3:30-4:00 pm
Sand Park Pool, 3:30-4:00 pm

Registration opens 30 minutes prior to the start time.
