There's something very special about team mascots; their ability to bring a large amount of joy to your child's life with one brief interaction is priceless. I remember the first time my son met T.C. Bear, the Minnesota Twins mascot; Tanner looked at him, then looked at me with that look, you know the one, "mom...mom...can I? Can I go say hi?"  T.C. greeted Tanner with a big hug and Tanner just smiled from ear to ear the entire day. It was a moment I'll never forget.

Your kids have the opportunity to have the same experience with one of their favorite mascots, too. The Rockford Park District is bringing Staley, the Chicago Bears mascot, to Levings Lake Park for the first annual "Run with Staley."  There will be a kiddie dash for kids 5 and under and then Staley will take the older kids on a one-mile loop through the park.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 21st from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.. If you have a child who's between the ages of 5-12, early registration is now available. The cost is $10 per child ($15 for non-residents) and space is limited so make sure to register here now to ensure that your child gets a spot.

You can also register at the Carlson Ice Arena in Loves Park or at the Park District Customer Service office downtown.
