Swings and Spirits is the new adult golf lesson program offered by the Rockford Park District.

I'm not much of a golfer, but a few years ago I took some lessons and they really helped.

Even if you're just a casual golfer, a couple of lessons couldn't hurt.

I know the idea of taking them doesn't sound like a good time, but what if you got a free "adult" beverage for doing it?

Think about it as a "win-win." You'll get better at golf and a tasty drink.

The Rockford Park District is offering that kind of program is this summer.

According to rockfordparkdistrict.org, It's called "Swings and Spirits" adult golf lessons.

"Rockford Park District’s Aldeen Golf Club will host a new series of adult golf lessons for ages 21 and older. Lesson participants will each receive a $6 gift card to use at the on-site Graystone Grill to enjoy a snack, meal, or beverage of their choice."

Classes will cover all aspects of the game including...

  • Putting/chipping.
  • Wedges.
  • Irons.
  • Trouble shots/accuracy.
  • Full swing/accuracy.
  • Each session will focus on a different area.
  • Instructors are PGA members and PGA apprentices.
  • Friday evenings and Saturday mornings April 20-June 16.
  • $32 per session ($38 non-resident).
  • Attend as many classes as you like.

Sounds like a good time to me.
