Would you believe that I've still never eaten at the Portillo's in Rockford, well, any Portillo's for that matter? I've been through the drive thru once, and it was to get chili dogs and they weren't even for me. Don't think I didn't want to get anything, but as a Portillo's rookie, it's hard to choose wisely from the extensive menu choices.

I know, I know, I should get the Chicago Style hot dog; after all that's what they're known for but you've gotten to know me a little and I'm trying to eat a little bit healthier these days. I was thinking of maybe trying their chicken pecan salad...or maybe the poppyseed fruit with chicken salad?

But to be honest, neither of those sound good with an ice cold beer, which is exactly what Portillo's is hoping to sell in the very near future; according to the Rockford Register Star.

The company applied for a beer and wine license which will be reviewed by the Liquor and Tobacco Advisory Board and the Rockford City Council on August 16th.

The popular restaurant hopes it will get approved because they firmly believe in give the customer what they want; customers like Portillo's super fan, Doug Cohen. In case you didn't know, Doug petitioned to get over 8,000 people to bring Portillo's to Rockford and you he plans on doing the same to help get the liquor license application approved.  I hear the first round is on him if it does. Just kidding, Doug.

We'll keep you posted on the outcome of this one.
