According to the FBI, when it comes to violent crime outside of Chicago, Rockford ranks in the most dangerous cities in Illinois.

Have you ever been sitting around with your friends and someone comments on how crazy the world seems to be lately? My friends and I often wish we could go back to "better times" but were things really better back in the '70s, '80s, '90s or whichever generation you'd like to revisit?

Maybe every place is dangerous and messed up and the only reason people are more aware of the darkness is because of things like social media, Fox News and CNN.  That's exactly how I feel when I read a story about how dangerous Rockford and it's neighborhoods are.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that two Rockford neighborhoods were among the top 25 most dangerous in American; now the FBI says that Rockford is the most dangerous town in the state according to 2013 crime statistics.

They've compiled a list of the top ten most dangerous towns outside of Chicago:

1. Rockford
2. Springfield
3. Peoria
4. Champaign
5. Aurora
6. Joliet
7. Harvey
8. Waukegan
9. Bloomington
10. Decatur

The numbers don't lie, but do you feel that Rockford is as dangerous as everyone says it is?
