Rockford’s Eclipse Lagoon Named Top Place To Skate In U.S.

With the kids off of school for their holiday break, it might be a good time to check out this top rated destination.

Rockford's Eclipse Lagoon at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens has been named one of the 12th best places to ice skate for the holidays in the United States.

The Eclipse Lagoon received the honor because it's so close to the botanical gardens, making it "surrounded by the lush vegetation".

At the northern end of the lagoon, visitors can ice skate and play hockey if they bring their own equipment.

The list was put together by a California-based travel organization, Matador Network, and was done so to try and highlight similar places that offer the same ice skating experience as New York's Rockafeller Center.

The Eclipse Lagoon is the only place in Illinois to make the list alongside the Half Dome Village Ice Rink in Yosemite National Park, the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink in Washington, D.C., and the  Beaver Creek Mountain Resort in Beaver Creek, Colorado.
