Shailene Woodley's extreme movie meal plan would probably break most.

In a recent interview with The Times published Thursday (June 28), the 26-year-old explained how the limited diet she adopted for her role as real-life seafarer Tami Ashcraft in the romance drama Adrift pushed her to her limit.

“For the last two weeks I had a can of salmon, some steamed broccoli and two egg yolks every day — 350 calories," the actress explained to the publication, adding, "it was f—king miserable.”

As imagined, the modified regime left the performer unrested and her nagging appetite didn't seem to make the transition any easier. “I can’t sleep when I’m hungry,” Woodley continued. “So I would have a glass of wine to basically pass the f—k out.”

The film, in which the Big Little Lies star plays opposite Sam Claflin, is based on the true tale of Ashland and her fiancé's journey for survival after their voyage is intercepted by Hurricane Raymond (one of the worst on record), leaving the couple nearly marooned in the middle of the sea. It's Woodley's first big-screen appearance since 2016's Snowden.

She met her current boyfriend, rugby player Ben Volavola, while shooting the movie on location in Fiji. The couple were connected as early as October 2017 but made their relationship Instagram official in January.
