If you're heading to a baseball game in Chicago this summer, you better leave one item at home.

Your chewing tobacco.

Aside from my personal feeling about chewing tobacco (eww gross), it is now illegal to bring yours to a baseball game at both Wrigley Field and U.S. Cellular Field.

The law went in to effect this morning, Tuesday July 12, and if you are caught with chewing tobacco at one of those stadiums, you will face fines.

It'll cost you $250 for the first offense, $500 for the second offense and $2500 for any further violations, according to WGN TV.

Chicago isn't the only city to ban smokeless tobacco. Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston have already done the same.

I reached out to the Rockford Rivets to see what their stance is on chewing tobacco, but haven't heard back yet.
