Soft ratings on The Walking Dead Season 8 have raised questions of the series longevity, and we at last have an answer. The flagship AMC drama will return for a ninth season with (most of) its cast intact, though Angela Yang will take over for Scott Gimple as showrunner.

The Walking Dead has seen its share of bitter exits, but rarely do the parents get involved. Such appears to be the case with Sunday’s game-changing character death, as the actor’s father tore into the network on social media, claiming “I never trusted Gimple or AMC.”

We’re accustomed to death on The Walking Dead, and doubly-so when the comics provide a road map. That’s what made that climactic bite in Sunday’s midseason finale such a shocker, and – before you ask – both producers and the actor in question confirm the character’s exit, noting “[That bite] is a one-way ticket.”

The Walking Dead and its Fear-ful prequel remain about a decade and continent apart, but a link between the pair has finally been found. Months after reports of a crossover, The Walking Dead confirms Lennie James’ Morgan will rejoin the franchise in a crossover role on Season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead rarely leaves any one thread dangling too long, but its latest return might be the series’ biggest surprise yet. Sunday’s “The Damned” brought a major blast from the past for Rick, and might just change the game going forward.

Any series is bound to show its age after eight seasons, but The Walking Dead might finally have begun to decompose. Sunday’s Season 8 premiere ratings were the third-lowest in the series’ history, beating only the 2010 series premiere and the 2011 Season 2 opener.

There’s ample evidence of toxic fandom out there, and the Albuquerque homeowners of Breaking Bad have seen some of the worst of it. After one-too-many tourist invaders and pizzas to the roof, the owners have apparently erected a security fence to dissuade entitled fans.

For the second time this year, The Walking Dead Season 8 is taking a brief hiatus from production. Hurricane Irma has forced a number of Georgia-based productions to close up shop for the time being, including CW series and several Marvel blockbusters.

Any fan of The Walking Dead knew changes were coming with the war against Negan, though the Season 8 trailer seemingly spoiled a major twist ahead. Or perhaps not, as Robert Kirkman teases Season 8’s October premiere will introduce us to the older Rick glimpsed in the footage.
