When it comes to her job this Illinois teacher has a simple and beautiful philosophy, one that made this grateful mom also a little bit jealous.

This is a wonderful story about a 5-year-old girl, a mom who was very nervous about her daughter starting school and a Kindergarten teacher, who like many others, has a special approach to teaching her students.

We know this story because of the Teacher of the Week nomination letter filled with praise, from a now VERY happy mom.

While the nomination letter does not mention Jessica's teaching philosophy, you can hear her share it in our conversation below.

Jessica's nomination letter comes from Dayana Gonzalez, she writes:

Miss Dobson should be Teacher of the Week!! She is the most amazing teacher ever with a beautiful soul. I never had that growing up with any teacher but wow I’m shocked how much my daughter loves her. She always wants to go to school to see her saying “Miss Dobson this” “Miss Dobson that” and “can’t wait to go to school and tell Miss Dobson”. She is just the best! I was so nervous about putting my daughter in school (since she is my first baby) that I was really thinking of homeschooling…due to all the recent school shootings. (It is so scary and devastating, my thoughts and prayers go out to those families.) Literally 4 days later after school had started I remember dropping off my princess Selena like any day. We noticed that Miss Dobson was outside as soon as we got close to the school entrance Miss Dobson yelled “Good morning Selena” and had her arms wide open.. I remember my baby’s face so happy and ran/jumped into Miss Dobson's arms. At that moment I felt a little jelly(jealous) because I was like oh no someone is taking my baby away from me. Still, I was observing how they both bonded, their faces with big smiles hugging each other as if they knew each other from years ago or as if they were family… it made me switch my mindset and made me really think “like wow somebody really loves my daughter here in school”. After this, I feel so comfortable leaving my baby in school because I know that she is in good hands. I’ve talked to a few ladies that work in the school and I was telling them marvelous things about Miss Dobson and they said the same. So it’s not just me, how good she is will all the kids. Every time I private message her she is always so sweet and responds on time. She also messages all the parents and lets us know what’s going on in class which is awesome! I could sit here for hours and speak and say so much about Miss Dobson because she is just the best teacher everrrrrr!!! I really wish and pray that she will get teacher of the week, and for you guys to meet her! She deserves it!
