Believers know that often you'll find yourself in exactly the spot you need to be with perfect timing. Amid tragedy, this Illinois teacher is just what one family needed.

Every week during the school year, I get the honor of shining a spotlight on the amazing teachers we are so fortunate to have around the Rockford region.

97ZOK Teacher of the Week

This week, that spotlight is shining upon Mrs. Kennedy from Rockford's Galapagos Charter School.

Mrs. Kennedy was nominated by Debbie Parks, she writes:

Mrs. Kennedy is amazing! She has worked with my grandson. He has ADD and ADHD. She has helped my grandson achieve the most this year. We talk almost daily, to make sure that he is getting the best education that he needs. She is very caring about all her students, and you don’t find many teachers wanting to take the kind of time to work with students like Mrs. Kennedy. But she does it and she loves her job and her students.

My daughter was shot and killed on May 29, 2021. I have been raising my four grandkids and this woman makes it so amazing and so much easier to help him with his schoolwork. Please take the time to recognize her she is the best. Thank you. Hope you all have a good day.

Listen to my wonderful conversation with Mrs. Kennedy.
