Congrats to 97ZOK’s new Teacher of the Week, Mrs. Wilson from Thurgood Marshall Middle School.

Mrs. Wilson scored delicious cupcakes from Sugar Jones and beautiful flowers from Broadway Florist.

The winning nomination came from Luca Barba. Luca tells 97ZOK:

I don't know were to start. I was sick for one day, and when I came back to school she asked if I was okay and said she was really nervous for me when I was gone. When she said that, I could see how much she meant that by the look in her eyes, they just seem so caring. Mrs. Willson is kind to everyone, even though she's really shy towards most adults. Many kids my age distance themselves from others, but there are many times were she hasn't given us homework because she wants us to spend time with our families, and she is often complimenting us and encourages us to follow what we believe in. Mrs. Willson is always doing her best to engage us in our learning. She starts off our day with Morning Work, which is we choose to answer one question form 3-4 that are available on the board. She will ask us individually what we put down and furthers that by telling us to explain our thoughts out loud to the class. It's not just morning work that she wants us to share our ideas on, it's everything. She'll always ask what our thoughts are on literature, and our peer's thoughts. I've never felt bored or distanced in her class. These reasons, kindness, engagement, and care, are why Mrs. Willson, my communications teacher, should be teacher of the week."
