The final Teacher of the Week went to two separate teachers in the same school! Congratulations to Mrs. Schilling & Mrs. Little from Mary Morgan Elementary in Byron.

Both teachers received flowers from Broadway Florist, cupcakes from Sugar Jones and are also in the running to win a notebook/tablet combo from PC Tech 2 U.

We heard from multiple students and parents regarding our winners this week.

Amy Palzkill nominated Mrs. Schilling. She says:

Mrs. Schilling is my son's academically talented teacher. My son had had difficulty in the past with not wanting to go to school. He would come up with reasons not to have to go and would go to the nurse saying he was sick some days. This school year has been his best year ever due to Mrs. Schilling. She has brought out the wonderful student that my son is and he loves going to her classroom. He looks forward to the various projects she has had them complete this year. He is being challenged and has risen to the occasion. This program and teacher have reconnected him to school and he loves school now. Mrs. Schilling goes above and beyond her duties as a teacher and is always willing to do what is best for kids. She recently made a poster to support my niece when she swam at the state tournament. Mrs. Schilling deserves to be the teacher of the week for all the above reasons and more."

Katie Groharing also nominated Mrs. Schilling. Katie said:

Mrs. Schilling has been so incredibly deserving of this honor all year long for the heart of gold that she so generously shares with each and every one of her students. Each day she encourages her students to express themselves in their own unique ways. When you walk into her room, it is so immediately apparent how much she loves not only what she does, but more importantly just how much she loves each and every child in there. But, it was this week that I was compelled to nominate her because of an act that brought a smile as wide as I've ever seen on my daughter's face and tears to my eyes. My 10 year old daughter, Hailey, is leaving tomorrow for a state swim meet that she worked extremely hard to qualify for. Mrs. Schilling has been there every step of this journey cheering her on as if she was her own daughter. Tonight, five minutes before Hailey was set to leave for her final practice before the big meet, there was a knock on our door. It was Mrs. Schilling with a bright pink poster bigger than Hailey that had a motivating message creatively made with different types of Hailey's favorite edible treats and was signed by each of her classmates. Hailey was beaming with pride as her teacher stood in our entryway. This is one of those moments that my daughter will never forget and neither will I. Mrs. Schilling LOVES my daughter no differently than she does her own, and there is no greater gift a mother can receive than a teacher like this for your child.

Ashlee Gorman says about Mrs. Little:

Mrs. Little has so much patience with us. She helps us with Math, Reading, takes us to the library & lets us play Thumbs up 7Up. She never yells at us. I like to draw pictures for her. She is really pretty and we love her very much!"

Macey Stoddard adds:

I would like to nominate my teacher, Mrs. Little (2nd grade) for teacher of the week because she is so nice and the best teacher ever. She helps us with math and reading. She also lets us go to the library. She is really pretty. She gives us hugs. If we are sad because we miss our mom, she says "I'll be your mom for the day". She lets other teachers come into our classroom. I love my teacher."

Jacob Barber also said:

Mrs. Little should be the teacher of the week because she is awesome, beautiful and a great teacher. She is very funny and really really nice.

As a parent I believe that Mrs. Little should be 97ZOK's teacher of the week because she has taught my son not only the required material but also has given him a much needed confidence in school work. She has shown him through love and kindness that teachers care about their students and want the best for them in and out of school. I have watched her in the classroom and she handles the second graders she teaches with patience, kindness, and humor. Mrs. Little goes out her way to make sure the kids are reaching their full potential. At the beginning of the year Jacob was having issues with reading comprehension and she called me at home on the weekend to discuss how we could help him achieve his goals. She makes sure that we know we can call, email, or come into the classroom at anytime to speak with her about the kids.
I am very happy with her as a teacher and Jacob has never come home with anything other than a smile. What more could a mother ask for?"

There you have it, the final "Teacher of the Week" for the 2013-14 school year. Congratulations to all of our winners.
