Sorry Mom, but this is a P.S.A. for everyone out there.

This is a lesson for all moms, dads, sons, daughters, everyone out there. Be careful on Facebook.

Over the weekend, I saw that my mom shared a post on Facebook about O.J. Simpson's death. I was like, hold the phone here, my mom knows that O.J. died and I missed this?

Yes, my mom is super social media savvy, but something that huge, I think I might've seen somewhere on Facebook before she shared it.

I was right. Sorry mom.

Because, I too was interested in O.J.'s potential death, I clicked on the post she shared, but immediately the app that it was shared from asked me for permission for the app to post to my Facebook without my permission.

HUGE RED FLAG.

The number one thing I've learned on Facebook is that you should never allow an app or outside site to post on Facebook for you.

I clicked, "no" when the article asked me that question, but apparently my mom said, "yes."

Thus her account was hacked. Every few hours that day, her account posted a click-bait type article about a celebrity, such as O.J.'s death, and Will Smith's son having an announcement about his sexuality, none of which were actual articles, but instead just a way for the hacking to occur.

I tried to log into my mom's Facebook account and cancel the app but once I signed in, I couldn't figure out how to undo whatever she did.

The only way I could stop the posting madness was to "report" my mom.

Yep. I had to report both my mom's account and the sleazy posts to Facebook in order for the hacking to stop. Thankfully it did.

Don't forget, when celebs die, they're usually trending on Facebook before your mom shares the post.
