This list from Trip Advisor is based on close to 1,500 online reviews of some of Rockford's most wonderful dining experiences. I added a few recommendations too.

I love having drinks and meals outside. nothing can add to the fun and romance of night out like sitting outside during a sunset or stars. Rockford and the surrounding area is filled with outside seating opportunities and this list features many. And I've been fortunate enough to have enjoyed all of these outdoor spaces.

You may not find your favorite on this list, if you don't, let that be enough motivation to head to Trip Advisor and give your favorite outdoor spot a good review.

    Tavern on Clark

    755 Clark Rd, Rockford, IL

The barbacoa beef and the havana sandwiches are my favorites. They also have a great selection of tequilas, wine, whiskey & scotches.

    The Stone Eagle Tavern

6445 E State St, Rockford, IL

Cajun specialties. Right off the bat, I'm a fan of this place. My favorite thing to start every visit is the 'Devils on Horseback', garlic marinated shrimp wrapped in bacon. Served with focaccia bread and finished with Creole Bourbon sauce.

    Octane InterLounge

124 N Main St, Rockford, IL

Headed downtown for a show? The perfect start to the night would be their jerk chicken tacos and a martini.

    Lucha Cantina

1641 N Alpine Rd, Suite 212, Rockford, IL

While there's hardly a thing on the menu I don't like, the PBJ Popper is a current favorite. This jalapeño popper is filled with peanut butter, strawberry jelly and bacon. Wait until you see their margarita menu.

    The Olympic Tavern

2327 N Main St, Rockford, IL

Another beautifully secluded outdoor space. The decor and vibe is outstanding. That's the same word I use when I tell people about their coconut shrimp. They also have one of the biggest beer menus in town.

I've enjoyed this outdoor space several times when it had different owners. I'm so glad this place has found new inspiration after being closed for quite a long time.
