Wow! Here it comes, the first harvest moon of 2018.

With the first day of fall occurring last on Saturday and the first full moon to follow, tonight you will be able to gaze up to the skies and witness the first Harvest Moon of 2018.

It harvest moon nickname gets it's name because of its' timing with harvest season for corn and other crops. The full moon, when visible lights up the night sky and casts a light crops and landscape.

Tonight, Monday, Sept. 24, assuming the clouds break, we could witness the first harvest moon of the year. look for a moon that should also look big and bright.

According to Space.com, the moon will be officially full on Sept. 24 at 10:52 p.m. EDT (9:52 central time). The nearly full moon will rise tonight at 6:01 p.m. and set the next morning at 6:03 a.m. (CDT).

Now this will not be the supermoon that we witnessed in January 2018. The Supermoon is even larger and brighter, but much rarer.
