The last time I was at the Winnebago County Courthouse, my mind was blown. It was fairly quiet, the halls were empty and I was able to make it through security in less than a minute; and that was with a purse and briefcase filled with documents.

Hopefully I won't have to make a trip there anytime soon because with budget cuts, not only are they laying off security personnel, they're banning everyday items that you and I both need with us.

According to WREX, bags, purses and backpacks are now banned from the court house starting next Monday; and you will be turned away if you bring them. The only things that will be allowed are diaper and medical bags.

The sheriff's office says you can also expect longer lines as you're going through the screening process.
