Lorde is the only female nominated for "Album of the Year" at the 2018 Grammys. And she's not on the performing line-up.

According to a report from Variety on January 27, close sources say the 21-year-old "Royals" singer was offered to perform "American Girl" as part of a tribute to the late Tom Petty, instead of going solo with one of her Melodrama tracks. Meanwhile fellow nominees Bruno MarsKendrick LamarChildish Gambino, and Jay-Z were given the offer to perform solo - though Jay-Z declined.

In addition, the "Greenlight" singer also pulled the plug on the Grammy red carpet according to a new report from TMZ.

Adding more fuel to the fire, Lorde's mother, Sonja Yelich, shared a photo on Twitter circling an excerpt from a January 26 New York Times article that read:

“Of the 899 people to be nominated for Grammy awards in the past six years, only nine per cent were women. (This year, Lorde is the only woman nominated for album of the year; she is not scheduled to perform"

"This says it all," Yelich tweeted.

Back in 2014, Lorde was nominated for four Grammys, two of which she won ("Song of the Year" and "Best Pop Solo Performance") and also performed her chart-topping hit "Royals" at the age of 17.
