I'm not sure exactly how long Facebook has been around (10 years?) but what I do know is that I've only had my account for 6 years; I've also been in the same relationship for the last 6 years, so I am so thankful that the one thing I don't have to worry about is having to deal with an ex on Facebook. My husband doesn't even have a Facebook account so if we were ever to get a divorce, it would be a clean break.

But for those of you who have to think about how to handle your break up on social media, first- I'm sorry, second- Facebook is here to help you move on.  Now I know what you're thinking, "why can't I just mute, delete or block them?" You can, but this new feature will give you more options.

When you change your relationship status from "in a relationship" to "single," you'll have options to scrub any of their future posts from your news feed ; you can block your posts from showing up in theirs, and it will remove any posts or photos you tagged them in; and the best part - Facebook will guide you through the process with a series of questions on how much you want to see of your ex on the site; simply follow the prompts and poof, your ex is gone.

Now, if you're ready to move forward with that break-up and update your relationship status, just hit play below and be strong; you got this.
