Whether you're considering going back to school or are preparing to send a child off to college, these Illinois colleges will be their best bet for financial success.

At the moment, I cannot escape college chaos. Every day my son gets about 12 pieces of mail from different colleges across the country and I can't keep up. He's already been accepted to two and he's already been offered close to $28,000 in scholarship money so far. I think it's great that he's weighing his options and is being smart about where he plans to attend. He knows that tuition can get pretty expensive, especially if choosing a school out of state, but he knows that he's paying his own way so he's planning accordingly.

Most of us already know that college application and enrollment fees, along with tuition continue to go up and for the most part, we know what they are because schools and other websites put the information out there. What we didn't know, until now, was the data on what students were making after graduation.

President Obama released a new website, College Scorecard, with information on every college and university in the country; along with the average earnings of graduates 10 years after receiving a bachelor's degree.

Here are the top 5 universities in Illinois with the highest paid graduates:

1. Rush University - $74,300

2. Illinois Institute of Technology - $68,200

3. Northwestern University - $64,100

4. University of Chicago - $62,800

5. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - $56,600

You can see the rest of the top 10 here.

Feel free to peruse the site for other states and schools as well; I know my kid will be.
