You could face hefty fines and prison time if you are caught setting off fireworks illegally in Illinois.

I am not into doing illegal stuff.

I didn't drink until I was 21, I've never smoked a cigarette, and I don't like jaywalking. I know, I know, I am a little irregular, but when it comes to setting off fireworks, I obviously am not going to do that either.

But, I know that there are plenty of firework risk-takers out there in Illinois, especially for those of us in Northern Illinois so close to Wisconsin.

I just want to remind of you what you can face if you are caught setting off illegal fireworks.

According to NBC 5 Chicago, if you are not licensed to set off fireworks, you can face up to five years in prison and fines up to $10,000.

That's a pretty hefty sentence.

So be smart and legal please, ok? Thanks.
