This weekend in Chicago is Ferris Fest, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you to essentially recreate Ferris, Sloan and Cam's epic skip day; from screenings of the movie to a live re-creation of the 'Twist and Shout' parade scene, you can pretty much experience it all for $300. That's for the full three day package.

But what if decided to take a sick day and do the day on your own with your two closest pals? According to NBC Chicago, here's roughly how much it would cost to take a Ferris Bueller style 'day off' today:

  • Parking for three people for 4 hours- $42
  • $66 dollars for the Willis Tower Skydeck
  • $261 for field level club tickets
  • $80 for lunch at Cochon Volant Brasserie
  • Another $66 for entry into the Art Institute
  • A whopping $3,000 for permits and security for the parade
  • Don't forget the Ferrari, Cam's damage cost his dad $1 million in repairs

Add it all up and it's going to cost you $1,003,515. Whoa.

Sounds like the better option would be to go to Ferris Fest or just plan your very own "Day Off" right here in Rockford.  Here's what that would like like:

  • Downtown parking - $5
  • A view from the top floor of the Rockford Trust Building - Free, but you might have to get permission for the person who lives on the top floor
  • $30 for 3 infield tickets to a Rockford Rivets game
  • $27 for lunch at Sienna's Market
  • $24 for entry to the Burpee Museum
  • $25 to apply for a parade or block party, public works will provide barricades at no cost
  • And do you really need to destroy a Ferrari? Save your money for a trip to Chicago if you want to experience the real deal.

Add it all up and you've got your own Ferris Bueller style day off for $111. That's a steal...and a great way to spend one of your personal days this summer.
