Spiders may be helpful when they kill other bugs, but let's face it, they're still creepy and crawly. This Fall, let's rid our houses of spiders.

I was not one of those kids who played with worms in the dirt. I wouldn't even touch the snail in my 8th grade Science class, I paid someone to do it for me... so I probably don't need to announce how I feel about spiders.

But I will anyway.

I hate spiders.

They are always spider-ing around in high places that are hard for me to reach, and once I do I end up attempting to kill the spider, it doesn't work and the spider flies around somewhere else in the room.

Also I found a huge spider bite on my leg last week, so it's time to take drastic measures.

My sister-in-law suggested I use peppermint oil and spray my apartment, so I'm on the hunt for that, but I also thought I'd use Google for help.

Bob Vila, he's a trusted guy when it comes to taking care of your house, right? He has some spider tips that I'm about to try this week. All of his details are on his website, but here is the gist.

  • Vacuum
  • Remove excess outdoor lighting
  • Set spider traps
  • Get a pesticide
  • Make a spider spray... featuring peppermint! (Good job, Erin!)
  • Seal up your house

I think I'll put Erin and Bob's ideas to the test this week, do you have any spider killing advice?
