It's hard to imagine what would happen if a massive earthquake hit Illinois; mostly because we think that it's impossible.

Well, last week we learned that it was possible after a 3.8 magnitude earthquake shook the small town of Albion, sending moderate shock waves to Indiana and Kentucky. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake caused some light shaking and moderate damage; but that was this time.

So, what would happen if a massive earthquakes, like the ones that devastated Mexico City last week, were to strike Illinois?

WISL TV says thousands would be injured or killed, and not just in Illinois; an eight-state region would feel the impact.
