This Might Just Be Rockford’s Oldest Billboard Sign

A nearly year-long joke in the form of a movie billboard sign that was up in Chicago was finally taken down last Friday.

It got me thinking about what is the oldest billboard sign in Rockford. I asked that question on my own Facebook page and I got what I think might be the winning response.

A billboard on S. Alpine Road just ahead of Taco John's. This billboard sign has been up for so long that many of us drive by it without even thinking of it.

What is this billboard? it's a billboard from the Illinois Tea Party asking our fine residents to vote on November 6, 2012.

My completely unscientific calculations show that this billboard must be nearly four years old.
