UPDATE: Toys 'R' Us is going to close all U.S. stores, and they plan to "honor gift cards for the next 30 days" according to USA Today.

A report released earlier today regarding gift cards no longer being accepted at Toys 'R' Us locations has parents across Rockford upset.

Scotsman.com says "gift cards are no longer being accepted at Toys 'R' Us stores after customers were told that they had until the last weekend." The "last weekend" in question was just this past Sunday, March 11.

While that statement from Scotsman holds true, it's only for Toys 'R' Us stores in the United Kingdom.

A phone call to the Toys 'R' Us location at 6449 East State confirmed that it is indeed for only overseas stores.

That means, "yes" you can still use gift cards and vouchers at Toys 'R' Us stores in Rockford and the rest of the U.S., for now.

Speculation has run rampant since a story broke late last week that all Toys 'R' Us stores across the country would be closing.  Other than a Twitter post, Toys 'R' Us has yet to confirm or deny the rumor.
