When a Machesney Park woman was reported missing in late October of 2012, there were few who thought it would become the subject of a TV show.

Katrina Smith was found in the Rock River two weeks after her husband, Todd said she had disappeared.

An autopsy performed on Smith showed that she died from blunt force trauma. Todd Smith was arrested less than two weeks later. He was then tried, and found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to 59 years in prison.

Todd Smith's 1985 arson arrest made him a prime suspect in the murder of his wife, Katrina.

Investigation Discovery believes he was the "perfect suspect" though. The Perfect Suspect will air tonight on Investigation Discovery at 8 p.m.
