Illinois is going all out to celebrate it's 200th birthday.

Including an open vote for Illinois residents to pick their favorite commemorative coin to mark the occasion.

NBC Chicago shares that Illinoisans have until June 15th to vote on one of the five designs chosen to help mark our state's bi-centennial birthday.

According to Michael Frerichs, Illinois State Treasurer, "the winning design will be minted on one side of the commemorative bicentennial coin. The other side will feature the state seal."

My favorite is the coin with the cardinal, corn and the white oak leaf. I placed my vote today.

By the way if you collect coins or would like to have a keepsake, "pre-order the coins online. They're selling for $45 each and will be available around Aug. 1."
