What Samsung hid in their Privacy Policy, they are now delivering as a warning. A warning you better pay attention to right now! Your TV is listening to your conversation.

Samsung is warning the owners of their smart televisions to be careful of discussing personal information if YOU ARE IN THE SAME ROOM AS YOUR TV. Holy crap... your TV is listening to you and sharing what it hears.

If you're using the 'voice activation' feature on their Smart TV this is happening. EVERY word of EVERY conversation that takes place in the room with this TV is heard and is shared with Samsung and a third party. Samsung's policy states that it is listening to spot when commands are spoken.

"If your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information will be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party."

Samsung also issued this statement:

"If a consumer consents and uses the voice recognition feature, voice data is provided to a third party during a requested voice command search. At that time, the voice data is sent to a server, which searches for the requested content then returns the desired content to the TV."

The third-party handling the translation from speech to text has not been named. Maybe it's just me, although I doubt it... I'M UNCOMFORTABLE NOT KNOWING WHO THAT THIRD PARTY IS.

If you'd like to know more, before you either stop using that feature or return the TV, read here.
