Can you believe that school starts next Wednesday (August 17th)? Yeah, I can't either. Are you ready?

Being prepared for the first day of school isn't just about having all your child's school supplies together, knowing their bus schedule and making sure they have money for lunch; it's also about being ready socially. Hundreds of photos tagged #backtoschool will pop up on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram over the next few weeks, many that could put your child unknowingly in danger.

It's easy to get excited about sending your little one off to kindergarten for the first time, but before you hit "upload" on that photo that you want to instantly share, make sure you've done these things:

  • Turn off your location, this way your photos won't share where your child is at.
  • Be extremely cautious when tagging your child's school.
  • Be sure to get other parents permission before tagging their children in your photos
  • When posting photos at the bus stop, be sure to leave out the street signs.
  • Lock down the privacy settings on your accounts.
  • Avoid posting embarrassing photos. We live in a digital age and those photos could come back to haunt them in the future.

I'm not sharing this to scare you, it's just the times we live in. You just never know who's looking at your photos; but don't let that deter you from posting because I can't wait to see them.
