Here are some tips from some really smart mathematicians to help you fill out your March Madness bracket.

I'm not much of a college basketball fan, unless it's tournament time. My husband turned me onto it when we first started dating. I figured if I did a bracket and made some friendly little wagers, it would bring us closer together and he would think I was the cool chick who loved watching sports. The wagers were my idea; it gave me incentive to cheer for a team I knew nothing about and maybe get dinner out of it. Seemed to work out for the both of us.

Whatever your reason for filling out a bracket, don't fill it out until you've read these tips from people who really know their stuff.

1. Don't let bias come into play. Don't pick the Badgers to win it all just because you went to UW Madison. Although, they are a one seed team so they're chances are pretty good.

2. Kentucky is undefeated so they're obviously favored to win. In fact, I have them taking it all in one of my brackets. Don't pick them to lose, just to be different.

3. Don't pick any team lower than a five seed to win. Seeding is confusing. Just remember that no one above an eight seed has won before. The higher the seed number, the lower ranked they are.

4. Pay attention to who's been winning recently. Last year, a cheerleader filled out a bracket after looking at teams who won a bunch a games at the end of the season and she ended up beating 96% of the brackets on ESPN.com. If she can do that, so can you.

5. Pray. OK, that one's mine. There's a lot at stake here. Especially if you're taking part in our Million Dollar Bracket Challenge; you don't even have to pay to enter that one. Fill it out. You have nothing to lose.

Good luck.
