Wisconsin’s First Portillo’s Set To Open Mid-July

Just in time for hot dog season, Wisconsin's first Portillo's is almost open!

We heard the exciting news that Wisconsin was getting a Portillo's almost a year ago, but now that news is finally becoming a reality for our neighbors to the North.

According to the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, Portillo's will open mid-July. Which is pretty perfect timing, don't you think?

Just when the need for a Portillo's hot dog is taking over every thought in your brain, you'll finally be able to get one (or seven) in Wisconsin.

The restaurant is in the final stages of construction right now, and will begin hiring and training employees soon. It's location on W. Blue Mound Road in Brookside is just about 20 minutes outside of Milwaukee.

In an interview with the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, food service expert Darren Tristano jokingly warns Wisconsin-ites of the deliciousness that is about to arrive saying, "they've got something called the cake shake, which, if you can avoid it, I would."

So, if you're planning on heading to Wisconsin for a trip this summer, maybe wait until mid-July so you can stop for cheese fries on your way there... and then again on your way home.
