The Rockford Police Department's community policing efforts has gained the attention of a very notable news organization outside of the United States.

The Al Jazeera network covers news from all over the globe, and since it's inception in the 90s and now has 80 bureaus around the world per Al Jazeera America.

So when Al Jazeera covered the story of Rockford first resident officers, Patrice Turner and Eric Thurmond, you know they must be on to something.

Programs like these are credited with reducing crime rates and Turner believes she and Thurmond's role in the program will be "building bridges not busting heads."
