We were the first generation to hang out with Samantha, Molly & Kirsten, and if you still have yours, you might be able to use it for a down payment on a new car.

Time to call mom and have her rummage through your toy box. Is there an American Girl doll in there? She might be worth some money!

I had two American Girl dolls, Samantha and Felicity, and I had the American Girl Baby, I still have all three, but they're hanging out in the basement of my parents' house.

Here's the thing though, my mom made me take way better care of these dolls than my other toys. Mom, you're so smart. She must've realized they could be worth something someday, or maybe just that she spent a lot of money to buy them for me.

According to BuzzFeed, the original American Girl dolls are worth way more than you paid for them.

BuzzFeed reports a Kirsten doll in "fair condition," along with seven of her outfits, accessories, bed and trunk are worth almost $2,200.

Also listed on the site, is a Molly doll with accessories and clothing for almost $5,000.

Felicity, outfits and books are going for $700, and there's a "used" Samantha listed for $599.

Pretty much anything American Girl is sellable including clothing patterns (are you still reading this, mom?). So if you need some extra cash this month, maybe this is the way to go.
