Summer is on its way, along with some sunburn... unless you switch to the best sunscreen around.

Sunscreen.

It's changed a lot since I was born.

First we had the very thick white lotion, it was hard to rub in, you had to wait forever after you applied it to go in the pool, and then take a 30 minute break to do it all over again in a few hours.

Then we got spray sunscreen. No more messy sunscreen filled towels, but, there was that possibility that you weren't really getting the coverage you need.

Now, there's drinkable sunscreen that protects you from the rays from within... but does that really work?

Thanks to Consumer Reports, we know what we should use and what we should keep on the shelves.

According to the Consumer Reports study, there are 14 sunscreens out there that protect exactly as they are marketed, as opposed to the others that claim to be SPF 30 when they're really just milk...

Here's what you should keep on hand this summer:

  • La Roche-Posay Anthelios 60 Melt-In Sunscreen Milk
  • Equate Sport Lotion SPF 50
  • Pure Sun Defense Disney Frozen Lotion, SPF 50
  • Coppertone WaterBabies Lotion, SPF 50
  • Equate Ultra Protection Lotion, SPF 50
  • Ocean Potion Protect and Nourish, SPF 30
  • Aveeno Protect and Hydrate Lotion, SPF 30
  • UP and UP Sheer Dry-Touch Lotion, SPF 30
