Someone Rated The Cleanliness Of Ballpark Food And At Least Wrigley Won’t Make You Puke
Eating at a Major League Baseball game is usually expensive, not very good and apparently, not the cleanest experience.
No, not clean eating. Nobody goes to a baseball game expecting to "eat clean" but more like whether or not the food is prepared and served in a clean environment.
Well, according to a new report from Sports Illustrated, some ballparks are much better at this than others.
The cleanest baseball park to eat at is Safeco Field in Seattle. There was only one critical violation for food and only five total violations mentioning "Seattle set the league standard and it wasn't close."
The worst? Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay. Nearly 250 total violations with over 100 being critical, the report says "Violations ranged from the observed presence of live insects to black mold accumulating inside an ice bin."
Locally, the Chicago Cubs ranked 8th. Sports Illustrated says "Wrigley registered the third-fewest critical violations" but "inspectors did ultimately dispose of 25 pounds of food." Uh, yuck?
On the south side, Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, didn't fare near as well ranked 18th. With 48 violations and 28 considered critical, the report revealed a "plethora of violations" like "dozens of mice droppings" and "flies under prep tables." Worse yet, Guaranteed Rate Field "failed its first inspection last year, before improving in follow-ups."
