A former North Boone High School Special Education teacher made national news after her arrest and subsequent guilty plea.

PEOPLE confirms, Sarah L. Myers, 41, from Garden Prairie "accepted a guilty plea that sentenced her last week to 10 years in prison for criminal sexual assault of a student younger than 18."

Myers trial was set for next month but plead out on Friday per Fox News. It is said, Myers relationship with the underage student was not enrolled at North Boone High School and "not a special education student."

The disgraced teacher and mother of five children was arrested after the underage teen "came forward in April, reporting he had been involved in a sexual relationship with Myers since November 2016." according to Rockford Register Star.

Breitbart says "Myers was credited with 261 days of time spent, but she will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life."

Myers will not be eligible for parole until 85 percent of her sentence has been served.
