If you've been looking forward to a snow day, or just enjoy tons of the white stuff, Mother Nature has something special planned just for you.

That's because it looks like a massive snow event is about to drop in Illinois starting late Thursday night.

Northern IL Severe Weather says "It will likely snow and snow steady from Thursday late Evening all the way till Friday Night into Saturday Morning."

According to the graphic on the Northen IL Severe Weather Facebook page, it looks like Rockford and the areas south to southwest of the city could be in line to get 6 to 9 inches of snow by the time the system passes.

Heavier snowfall is predicted for Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

They also believe we could be looking at up to an inch of snow per hour and that most "if not all schools Friday to be closed and roads to be very dangerous for travel."

That's good. Looks like we're going to need a day or two to clean up this mess.
