The Quad Cities is home to five not, four cities, and in order to confuse you even more, apparently, home to an "Illinois pizza we have to try."

If you've kept up with me over the past few years, you know I'm a big pizza fan. I was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Rockford in the late 90s.

I came to appreciate Rockford pizza, and I believe it is some of the most underrated and underappreciated food in the entire Midwest.

There's a ton of good local pizza places in town and when I ran across a story titled "The Illinois pizza you have yet to try" on USA Today I immediately thought "Rockford pizza."

Turns out the story isn't about Rockford pizza but about Quad Cities pizza. Say what?

Best described as pizza that "contains a malt-heavy 'spice jam,' spicy red sauce with chili flakes and cayenne pepper, and strips that are cut with scissors."

OK, I'm not sure that counts as pizza, but I'll give it a go, but what's up with the pizza cut into strips? Sounds strange to me.

Nevertheless, I'll try it. As a pizza guy, this seems to be calling my name. However, I'm afraid there isn't a pizza place in Rockford that makes a Quad Cities style pizza.

Do you know of any? Let me know!
