If running for a good cause sounds like an excellent idea until you realize you have to, you know, actually run, this might be the event for you.

Forget struggling through 3.1 miles, this race is a little less than 500 yards!

Seriously, there's no "run" in this race. Sure, you can "run" if you want, but you could probably walk backward and not break a sweat.

I forgot to mention this .5K is totally for a good cause, benefiting YouthBuild Rockford a comprehensive, intense workforce development program.

The Downtown Dawdler Dash is designed to let anyone and everyone who wants to compete feel like they're really running a race. Everyone who signs up gets a t-shirt, a bumper sticker, and a medal.

Like all good charity races, there's doughnuts, bagels, and coffee beforehand because you need to carb load like nobody's business.

The race is Saturday, November 9 with registration beginning at 10 a.m. at The Lombardi Club parking lot.

There's also an after-party scheduled at Prairie Street Brewing Company with pizza beer and live music.
