Things have really changed over the years and today marks a really big day for the Illinois LGTBQ community. For the first time ever, a pride flag is flying over the Statehouse In Springfield Illinois. The flag was a gift from the Phoenix center which is an LGTBQ community center for Central Illinois. House majority leader Greg Harris said the "the flag is very special" according to MYSTATELINE.com.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker Chimed in on Facebook saying "Every Illinoisan should be proud of who they are, who they love or how they identify. That’s why a pride flag soars above the Illinois Capitol for the first time in state history. This is a really great day for The Illinois LGTBQ community and it shows more and more that the road to true equality is really in site.
