The biggest and newest hospital in the Rockford area is officially open. Maybe you're wondering how all the patients get there so quickly. Here's how the transition occurred. It's simple, a lot of ambulances, a lot of nurses, a lot of safety procedures, and good planning.

Patients were moved from MercyHealth's Rockton campus beginning early Sunday morning beginning at 5 a.m. The process and training for the big day lasted over a year with one keyword in mind, safety. The patients were critically ill, obstetrical, and pediatric patients, according to WIFR.com.

This move has been planned for longer than a year and half (sic). Employees and partners had to undergo extensive training and drills to ensure patient safety

Ambulatory transportation rotated every five minutes with a nurse attending to each patient.

Patients will be transported every five minutes in a superior ambulance and with a nurse on board. Leaders say the main priority is the patients' safety.

An incredibly large number of volunteers were needed for the feat, including multiple police departments.

The hospital will count on the help of an additional 500 volunteers to move patients, in addition to drone surveillance and the Rockford and Loves Park Police Departments.

Never having been inside, one can assume the inside is pristine and well decorated based on the outside appearance.
