I'm back with another episode of "How Long Will This Mall Stay Open?"

I really used to love malls.  As a kid, it was one of my favorite places to go on weekends with my parents.  Now with the power of social media and online stores, I think malls are just out of date. You'd think cities would want every inch of their city to thrive, but somehow seem to neglect the eyesores in town - aka their dying shopping malls that even look rundown on the outside.

I found another mall in Illinois that's needing your input.  This place was most requested by this YouTuber, too, so it must be a good one!  Is there hope for this dying retro mall in Danville, Illinois?

VILLAGE MALL IN DANVILLE, ILLINOIS

Opened in 1975, Village Mall was a thriving shopping center with huge name stores like Jo-Ann Fabrics, Burlington, Slumberland Furniture, and AMC Theatres.

I don't remember the last time I stepped foot in a mall just to buy one thing.  I take everything to Amazon now.

It's so much easier to scroll through my options while on my couch than walking around for hours in HOPES to find what I like.  Especially walking into anchor stores like Burlington... why go in when I can shop online without worrying about bumping into people I know?

This photo below is from years ago when Village Mall was all done up and thriving, to say the least.  There were cool aspects throughout the mall to give it a touch of a retro feel!

Wanna know what it looks like today?

Take a look.  The neon lights are gone, but at least a Claire's is still surviving!  Village Mall was one considered the TOKEN of Danville's economy, yet it's progressively going downhill as we speak.

It's just kinda sad that changes over the years aren't always necessarily for the best.  Did they take the neon lights down to cut costs? Anybody have an idea?

According to all the YouTube comments in the video of this dying mall, everybody was so excited to see this mall be reviewed.  It's just something about the nostalgia around Village Mall in Danville that makes it way more sad to see it on its last leg.

The rest of the photos of inside this dying mall are below.  You'll notice there are literally no mall-goers walking around.  Not even mall walkers - wowzers!
