This Brand-New Illinois Music Festival Is Bringing 35 Bands to Chicago
Chicago’s got music festivals down to a science, massive crowds, overpriced drinks, and someone in a flower crown pretending they’re fine in the heat. But just when you thought the city couldn’t cram in another fest, along comes something fresh: Edgewater Music Fest, a brand-new, three-day celebration set for September 5–7 in the Edgewater neighborhood. And it’s not messing around… 35+ bands, 100 vendors, and zero copy-paste festival vibes.
Where Exactly Is Edgewater?
Edgewater’s tucked along Chicago’s north side, right on the lake, and known for its charm, diversity, and now, apparently, music festivals. The action happens on North Broadway between Thorndale and Ardmore Avenues. Bring your walking shoes and your appetite.

Who’s Playing?
Edgewater Music Fest headliners include Laura Jane Grace (Friday), Ric Wilson (Saturday), and Foxy Shazam (Sunday). The rest of the lineup is stacked with alt-rockers, indie darlings, and Chicago-grown talent like Sludgeworth, Pinksqueeze, and The Brokedowns. Expect big sound with a local heart.
What Else Can You Expect?
Besides live music from noon to 10 pm (5–10 pm Friday), you’ll find food, drinks, shopping, and even a Kids’ Zone for the littles. Admission is free, though a $10 donation is suggested.
