Are you wondering when you should visit Illinois? Here’s why September through November is the ideal time, according to me.

Fall is my favorite season in Illinois.  I've been living in the Midwest my entire life and I love, love, love all-seasons states.  Call me crazy, but getting the chance to see outside transform into a completely different place simply because of season change is breathtaking.  Why move for a change of scenery when it happens four times a year naturally?

Seriously, there's something really special about the Midwest in fall time.

There’s No Better Time to Visit Illinois Than Fall

The air turns crisp, you get to layer up in super cute outfits, it's spooky szn, leaves are changing, markets, fairs and apple orchards return, kids are back in school, hiking views are breathtaking, porches are decked out with pumpkins, reading a good book on a cool day, cinnamon-scented candle are a must, and someone is always having a bonfire somewhere nearby.

I could keep going on and on about why fall is literally the best time of year in Illinois.  Oh, let's not forget the food:

  • Apple cider donuts
  • Big bowls of chili
  • Pumpkin-spice everything
  • Caramel apples
  • Roasted nuts
  • Hot cocoa with marshmallows
  • Coffee from your favorite coffee shop

Do I need to keep going?

Whether you're visiting for your first time, come to Illinois often, or live here and looking for things to enjoy during the fall, these might suffice.  If you've never experienced fall here, you're in for a treat. Make sure to dress for the weather, too.  Too many of us in the Midwest make the mistake of underdressing because we underestimate the Weather App.
