It’s Officially Rockford Casino Proposal Deadline Day

The deadline to submit casino proposals to the City of Rockford is today, so a lot of "official" things will be happening Downtown.

As of now, only two groups have made their casino intentions known publicly; Hard Rock Casino Group who want to build a casino in the former Clock Tower Resort location, and Gorman and Co. who want to put a casino near the Amerock Embassy Suites Hotel on the South Main corridor in Downtown Rockford.

Once the City receives all proposals today, the real work begins. Here's the timetable for what happens next from wifr.com;

• September 16: Evaluation team submits recommendations to City Council
• Sept. 23: Public Hearing
• By Sept. 30: City Council certifies proposers
• Before Oct. 25: Applications filed with Illinois Gaming Board
