Taylor Swift has officially purchased the rights to her music masters, and Scooter Braun's reaction to the news might surprise you.

Braun and Swift have been music industry enemies of sorts for some time now, with a conflict between them that intensified six years ago when Braun purchased Swift's music masters without her approval in June 2019, much to Swift's shock and discontent.

The purchase took place when Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings, acquired Big Machine Records, giving Braun ownership of Swift's ultra-successful first albums albums including Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation.

Incensed by the purchase, Swift accused Braun of being a "bully" and "tyrannical," calling him the "definition of toxic male privilege in our industry," while Braun defended himself by claiming he had reached out to Swift and her camp prior to the purchase but never heard back.

The following year, Braun sold Swift's music to an investment firm called Shamrock Capital, and in 2021, Swift began re-recording and re-releasing her early music as a means of reclaiming her older songs and albums.

Now, it seems, the drama is all behind Braun and Swift.

In a short and sweet statement to Page Six on Friday (May 30), Braun simply said, "I am happy for her."

Page Six also reports that last week, a source claimed that Braun was the person who was "encouraging this deal" between Shamrock Capital and Swift.

However, another source told People that wasn't the case.

"Contrary to a previous false report, there was no outside party who ‘encouraged’ this sale. All rightful credit for this opportunity should go to the partners at Shamrock Capital and Taylor’s Nashville-based management team only. Taylor now owns all of her music, and this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him," they said.

Swift's masters purchase reportedly cost her more than $300 million.
